Particle charging
Charges fine particles so they clump, settle or are caught by your HVAC filter.
Cold plasma air treatment for yachts
AURA is a compact, filter-free air treatment unit for staterooms, salons and crew quarters. It treats the air inside the space it sits in, around the clock, while owners, guests and crew are aboard.
Lab figures reflect specific test conditions and vary with space size, airflow, installation and use.
The challenge aboard
Once a yacht is buttoned up for air conditioning, the same air circulates through the same spaces for hours or days at a time. Moisture, odors and microbes that get into it tend to stay.
Warm, humid cruising grounds bring condensation into lockers, headliners and the spaces behind panels. That is where the musty smell starts.
Galley cooking, heads and holding tanks, fuel, smoke and pets. In a sealed interior, odors move from space to space through shared air.
Owners, guests and crew can share recirculated air for weeks. On charter, a new group steps aboard at every turnaround.
HVAC filters trap particles that pass through the air handler. They do little for gases and odors, and the media must be replaced on schedule.
AURA works alongside your HVAC, ventilation and filters. It supplements them and does not replace them. For a serious mold problem, remediation by a qualified professional comes first.
Model AURA Boost
Mounted on a bulkhead or set on a counter, AURA adds active air treatment inside the cabin itself, with its own fan, whether the A/C is cycling or not.

How it works
Lightning energizes the air and creates short-lived reactive molecules. AURA recreates that process at room temperature, using only the oxygen, nitrogen and moisture already in the cabin air.
The built-in fan pulls cabin air into the treatment chamber.
An electric field energizes the air while it stays near room temperature.
Short-lived oxygen and nitrogen species react with odors, VOCs and certain microbes.
A catalytic element reduces ozone before the air leaves the grilles.
What it does
A basic ionizer mainly charges particles. AURA does that too, and adds two pathways an ionizer generally lacks.
Charges fine particles so they clump, settle or are caught by your HVAC filter.
Breaks down certain VOCs and odor molecules from cooking, mustiness, smoke and fuel, rather than masking them.
Reactive species can damage the membranes and genetic material of certain bacteria, viruses and mold spores.
Tested performance
AURA's cold plasma technology has been evaluated by independent laboratories in controlled rooms, a working office and on surfaces.
| Result | Laboratory | What was tested |
|---|---|---|
| 99.99% | AGQ Labs / DiagnotecChile | Human coronavirus 229E after 1 hour of exposure (ASTM E1053, adapted). |
| ~100% | Lab San MartínCosta Rica | Airborne bacteria in a working office after 30 minutes, 270 to under 1 CFU/m³. Fungi and yeasts down 80%. |
| 95.45% | IIBCEUruguay | Airborne bacteria in a controlled room, best result after 60 minutes of operation. |
| >99.99% | QualityLabs BT GmbHGermany | E. coli on PVC surfaces after three exposure cycles (ISO 22196, modified, preliminary). |
Reductions were measured under each laboratory's test conditions. Occupied-room results in Uruguay ranged from 44.45% to 100% depending on airflow, distance and activity. Full reports are available on request.
Ozone & safety
Any cold plasma process makes a small amount of ozone as a byproduct. AURA handles it inside the unit: a catalytic control element from ACI Catalysts (USA) is built into every unit and reduces ozone before air leaves the grilles.
Lab evaluation at the outlet found ozone non-detectable under the tested operating conditions.
Applications
Plan one unit per enclosed space up to 376 sq ft. Larger salons may call for two.

Stands alone in the cabin, or a licensed installer can place it within the HVAC space. Two-point mounting keeps it secure underway.

Questions
AURA is designed for continuous operation in occupied spaces with BOOST off, where ozone output is designed to stay below 0.01 ppm. It adds no chemicals and has no filter media. Guests or crew with respiratory sensitivities should check with a physician before extended use of any air treatment device.
No. AURA supplements your HVAC, ventilation and filtration. Keep filters in service; they handle heavier dust and allergens best.
Yes. Units stand alone in the cabin or can be placed within the HVAC space by a licensed installer, with no renovation. We also work with builders and HVAC partners on new builds.
Unplug and wipe the housing with a dry cloth every few weeks, keep both grilles clear and check the catalytic element for damage or discoloration. Never open the unit.
A 1-year limited warranty covers parts and the catalytic control element.
